Portland, OR

Joel and I went to Portland a few weeks ago to visit our friend Krista who is going to school at Multnomah University. While we were there we made sure we saw all the most sophisticated and important venues... mainly, Voodoo Donuts (yes, all three stores).

Here are some of my favorite sights and memories from the trip.

The statue of Portlandia... truly impressive.

Probably my favorite part of the entire trip was sitting at the Stumptown coffee shop, watching all the people. This day marks the important moment in my life when I went from liking coffee to loving it!

The sky tram... not lame at all, totally awesome!

It wouldn't be much of a trip if we didn't stop at the local library.

 Krista at the Japanese gardens... pretending to be a figurine in a bonsai tree display.

The Kennedy School hotel and brewery.

The Captain Crunch donut. If you are wondering, yes, it is as good as it sounds.

Joel had to rotate the tires on our car for the drive home, so we stopped in Salem for an hour or so. We parked down the street from the state capital building, so I did a little touring by myself while Joel worked on the car (such a nice husband).

Nate & Jillian 3.31.12

My first memory of Jillian is muddled a bit by my adolescent fear of spiky hair and outgoing people. Fortunately the last few years have given us wonderful family and friendship to enjoy. Thanks, Jillian, for driving out to Sacramento with me and helping me decode Kathryn’s driving directions (you’ll see a big tree next to an old church with a red door, DON’T turn there). I’ve enjoyed becoming aunts together (unofficially), sisters together and aunts together again (officially). Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wedding day. You’re so beautiful!

Nate, I don’t know you as well as I should, considering how long I’ve known who you are, but I don’t have any doubt that you are the perfect husband for Jillian; she’s confident in you and that speaks volumes. I’m glad that in a round about kind of way we’re family now.

You two are awesome and I pray that God would bless you with extraordinary adventures.

So, if everyone would raise their glasses with me and toast the happy couple…

{clink, clink}

Cheers!
